The Aruba Budget Worksheet
Price the trip honestly, before you book it.
Work down the list, pick your number in each line, and you'll have a trip total that survives contact with reality. Ranges come from our database of 125 tracked properties and the real prices travelers reported — not the 'starting at' numbers on hotel landing pages. All figures are for two adults for a week unless noted.
The big three
Flights: $700–1,100 for two.
$350–550 per person round trip from the East Coast when you book about three months out and fly Tuesday or Wednesday. Weekend departures and last-minute bookings run $700+ each. Winter and spring break command the top of the range.
Room: pick your tier.
Budget ($100–180/night): clean studios a few blocks inland. Mid-range ($180–300): low-rise beachfront or high-rise with pools near Eagle or Palm Beach. Upscale ($300–500): renovated rooms, swim-up bars, prime sand. Luxury ($500+): suites, exclusive beach areas, restaurants worth visiting on their own. Multiply by your nights.
Food: $60–250 per day for two.
Cooking half your meals in a condo kitchen keeps you near the bottom. Hotel breakfast plus dinners out most nights is $150–200. Resort dining every meal with cocktails clears $250 without trying.
Getting around and getting out
Rental car: $250–280/week local, more for chains.
Local agencies deliver to your hotel and beat the airport counters; some travelers report $27/day. If you're staying on the resort strip and skipping the far corners of the island, taxis may total less — but they add up fast at fixed fares with a $10 minimum.
Activities: $90–120 per person per half-day.
That's the going rate for UTV tours, snorkel sails, and dive charters. Two or three organized outings for two people is $400–700. Beach days are free — that's the lever that moves your total most.
The sneaky line items
Palapa rental: ~$25/day.
Shade on the popular beaches is paid shade. A week of it is a dinner out.
Taxi surcharges.
+$5 on Sundays, holidays, and 11 p.m.–7 a.m., on top of fixed fares. Late dinners ride home at a premium.
Service charges and tips.
Many restaurants add 15% service; check the bill before doubling up. Resort fees and taxes can add 20%+ to the quoted room rate — confirm the all-in number.
The grocery-store save.
Super Food and Ling & Sons for water, beer, sunscreen, and breakfasts — one day-one stop reliably claws back $100+ versus minibar and beach-bar prices.
Sanity-check your total
Budget conscious: ~$2,000–3,000/couple.
Studio condo, cooking half your meals, local rental car, no catamaran cruise, midweek flights. Doable, but it demands planning.
Mid-range comfort: ~$4,000–6,000/couple.
Solid beachfront hotel, dinners out three or four nights, one or two organized activities, rental car for flexibility. The sweet spot for most couples.
Splurge-worthy: $8,000+/couple.
High-rise oceanfront or top-tier all-inclusive, multiple excursions, spa treatments, and menus without prices. If your worksheet total lands between tiers, the room is usually what's pulling it up.
